Learn to Ride

Mid-South Motoplex offers different levels of motorcycle training and education programs in cooperation with Mid-Tenn Motorcycle Education Center and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Our course has been the state of Tennessee's largest Learn2Ride program since 1998, and has received the State of Tennessee STAR Award for the highest achievement in safety, quality, Rider Coach development, and program promotion. The state of TN will waive the riding and written portion of your Motorcycle Endorsement Test if you successfully complete our Learn2Ride course!

  • 1. Basic RiderCourse (BRC):

    • Times - Saturdays: 8 am - 5 pm, Sundays: 8 am - 5pm.
    • Location - various locations throughout middle Tennessee.
    • Cost - $229 (includes course materials, lab/range fees) This 2-day course is for beginning riders of ages 14 and up.
    • A minimum of 7 hours classroom instruction prepares you for at least 10 hours of practical riding in a controlled, off-street environment (parking lot).
    • You will learn about the different types of motorcycles, their controls and operations, as well as the special skills and mental attitude necessary for dealing with traffic. Helmets and motorcycles are provided.

  • 2. Experienced RiderCourse (ERC):

    • Times - Saturdays & Sundays 12pm - 6pm.
    • Location - various locations throughout the area
    • Cost - $129 (includes course materials)  and Trike non-Cam Am is $329
    • In this 6-hour course, participants can freshen up their skills or even learn something new. Practice the techniques of managing traction, controlling rear-wheel skids, stopping quickly, cornering and swerving. This course also covers protective gear, rider responsibility, motorcycle inspection and care, the effects of alcohol and other drugs on riding, and an optional skill evaluation and knowledge test. You will need to use your own motorcycle and protective gear.
